Jimmy Adamson's side finished 5th and was built around David Harvey, Trevor Cherry, Frank Gray, Brian Flynn, Paul Hart, Carl Harris, Paul Madeley, Ray Hankin, Tony Currie, Arthur Graham, Eddie Gray and John Hawley, who finished the campaign as top scorer with 16 championship goals.
